Re: Could Andy Carroll play in our new system effectively?
Carroll is more than just a hoof ball merchant

This lad takes the ball down off keepers kicks with ease, he's a class act IMO

Re: Could Andy Carroll play in our new system effectively?
Just having this thread shows what a decent set of different options we have up top this season. Anything is better than the one dimensional football we suffered last season.

But im a cunt too so what do i know ?

Re: Could Andy Carroll play in our new system effectively?
Hes a different attacking option, which is what a squad needs. Starts when we need to bully defenders or resort to aerial bombardment, bench when we need to play a pressure game or attack with pace.

Yes - he is a top player

Re: Could Andy Carroll play in our new system effectively?
My hope its that we will not just play one system, as doing that is asking for trouble once teams have seen it a few times. There in lies the value of having Andy Carroll back.

But Andy Carroll has scored a fair number of goals in his career playing with two strikers, remember.

Re: Could Andy Carroll play in our new system effectively?
Our style would of course change with Carroll coming into the team in place of Valencia or Sakho, but can you imagine Carroll getting on the end of some of those crosses/freekicks from Messrs. Cresswell, Jenkinson, Jarvis and Downing ?

It'd surprise me if he didn't at least score us a goal each per game plus won us another penalty each game on top of that...

Re: Could Andy Carroll play in our new system effectively?
Carroll has already indicated that he's looking forward to playing with Creswell cod of his delivery. I doubt Carroll Sakho and Valencia will ever be on pitch together other than training

Mr Polite, tread carefully you have unintentionally become an enigma of sorts and could well come back to bite yourself on the arse.

It's got to the point that even if I post something true I don't believe it.

Re: Could Andy Carroll play in our new system effectively?
A quartet of Valencia, Sakho, Carroll and Zarate is pretty good.

I'd be confident of us winning games with any combination of the above.

Its healthy competition and as long as Valencia and Sakho keep terrifying defences, Carroll will have to work very hard to get a look in, so we are its a very good problem to have.
